Brilliant Pakistan Crowd invasion at a poorly stewarded Edgbaston took the gloss off an outstanding Pakistani victory and an otherwise fine start to the NatWest Series.
Pakistani began explosively from the bat of Saeed Anwar while Saeed Anwar played a more measured innings. Anwar and Inzamam were the two main two run makers with a cameo from Azhar Mahmood. England's bowling lacked variety and its 'also rans' were punished severely.
Set a formidable 274 England failed miserably to mount any sort of challenge with only Knight hitting fifty being left stranded with the tail.
Pakistan fielded brilliantly and will go on from this match with enhanced confidence. England without Thorpe, Hussain and Caddick looked sadly out of their depth and will have to do a lot of self searching before the next match.
