Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi opened for Pakistan and
immediately set about the Australian bowling but Mark Waugh quickly took a flyer of a catch at slip off Brett Lee.

The innings which began with a flurry of shots then became becalmed with a string of maidens.

With the introduction of Warne the game changed. first Abdur Razzaq lost his balance and was stumped by a fumbling Gilchrist then a wide was bowled followed by Inzamam losing his nut and charging Warne. He was stumped by a mile.

Australia 's fielding was magnificent saving a lot of runs and adding pressure on the Pakistani batsmen.

Having pulled Harvey for four Yohana was lbw to Harvey then Khan edgec a leg break to the wicket keeper.

Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble and must be rueing their decision to bat first.
Rashid Latif joined Yohana and these two took the score to 209 before a run out mix up brought the end og Rashid's great knock of 66.

Australia were unable to stem the run flow but did take the remaining wickets Mark Waugh strolling round the boundary to catch a big hit from Shoaib off the penultimate ball.

Pakistan opened with Waqar and Shoaib and they bowled very fast Shoaib reaching 95mph. Although they captured the useful wicket of Gilchrist, Ponting and Mark Waugh hit the bowling all round the park setting up the innings at an exceptionally fast rate.
Waqar failed to bring on Afridi and Saglain until too late and all the medium pacers were severely punished even the normally mean Abdur Razzaq.
Steve Waugh and Bevan carried on after Ponting had fallen to Saqlain and put on over 100 to romp home by 7 wickets.
