 Whatever the splendours of the professional first class game the greatest glory of the game of cricket is its local clubs and their grounds especially in UK but also worldwide.
Such is the scale and scope of the data required to encompass this sector comprehensively that we will not attempt it at present, if ever, at the World Cricket Centre.
What we intend to do is to present a rich and varied slice of the cake including many aspects of the club game and culture, its fun and its problems.
Also to build up a useful listings of specialist services for Cricket Clubs and their officials sometimes with our comments.
We will include many a photo and story of great and hilarious achievements on and off the field but above all look forward to hearing from you and about your club.
The recent initiative from the revamped Sport England(Sport Wales,Sport Scotland & Sport Northern Ireland) results in real and substantial funds being available to local clubs via the ECB & County Boards. There are strict criteria to qualify but it marks the start of a completely new era for the grass roots game in UK and not before time.
After intense sustained lobbying by UK sports bodies including ECB have secured from Inland Revenue 80% mandatory rates relief for 'community amateur sports clubs'..up to 100% at the discretion of the local authority.
Every local cricket club in UK is urged to register a CASC with the Inland Revenue on 0131 777 4147 or online as shown in Club Services Section.
